Montage Proposal
Project Title: Montage |
Rational (100 words approx) |
The montage should exist because it is important to show these emotions and feelings so that people can see them and feel less alone in their own feelings. It will communicate the idea that these thoughts and feelings are normal and experienced by lots of people, helping people feel less alone. The montage’s main audience will be teens/young adults with experience in feeling lonely. There is already an established audience for this on youtube and instagram, however i believe there is a gap in the market for a female perspective to be shown, making my montage stand out from the others whilst still appealing to the audience. Making this montage will give me the opportunity to challenge myself to work on my storytelling and creating films that have emotional effects on its audience, also it will further develop my skills in camerawork and composition. |
Project Concept (200 words approx) |
My project is to make a montage with the theme loneliness. My montage will show the story of a young-adult girl and her experience of loneliness and it’s effects. The aim of my montage is to create something that the audience can relate to, create an emotional response in them and to demonstrate the emotions that many people are going through. It will use the song “Let You Down” By NF, this will appeal to the audience because this song is popular and fits the mood and theme of my montage well. My montage’s lighting will be quite dark to reflect the mood and the camera work will be slow and purposeful to emphasise the experience of loneliness. The editing will be slow and smooth to create a thoughtful mood and reflect the isolation felt with loneliness. My montage will appeal to its target audience because it fits in well with similar montages that have been successful. The resources I will use to create the montage is what I have access to at home, this will most likely be my phone camera. Ideally I would be able to use the equipment provided by college but because of Covid-19 that isn’t possible. I will be using the research I have done and the tutorials I have been given to successfully complete my project. |
Proposed Research |
I have researched montages to get inspiration for my own montage and to see successful examples of montages to reflect on what works well and use that for my own montage. The montages I looked at were https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_QccgBBEHc&has_verified=1 from BlacKkKlansman and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR9F-fKEP10 from Creed 2. The montage from BlacKkKlansman was the most useful because it’s theme is closer to my theme than the theme in the Creed 2 montage. This means that I have been able to get inspiration from this montage. I have looked closely at how it achieves it’s effect on the audience and thought about how to recreate that in mine. I have also done research into different types of shots that show my theme well so that I can use these in my montage to get the same effect. |
